Ring Video Doorbell 3 is an upgrade from the original Ring Video Doorbell 2. The upgraded version gives a better user-experience than the previous model.
The Video Doorbell 3 comes with enhanced features including 1080p HD video, 2-way-audio, and motion detection. It is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery.
Battery or Wired Option
You can also connect it to your home’s doorbell wires for constant power. However, it is not DC supported. Instead, you can connect it to a low-voltage AC transformer (8 to 24V).
Whether you are in your home or away, you can always see who is at your door and communicate with the visitor if you want. Further, the doorbell 3 is compatible with Amazon Alexa. This means if you have an Echo device with a screen, you can see the view of your camera when someone presses the bell. You can also use it to talk to the visitor.
When a visitor presses your doorbell or triggers the camera’s built-in motion sensors, you will get an instant notification on your phone, tablet, and PC.
Ring Video Doorbell 3 Vs Ring Video Doorbell 2
However, these are all possible with the Ring video doorbell 2 as well. But the main difference between the two models is that the video doorbell3 has 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band wifi connectivity. Wheres, doorbell 2 has connectivity of 2.4GHz only.
Additionally, Video Doorbell 3 gives better control over motion detection. You will like its adjustable motion zone setting that lets you receive alerts selectively. You can customize doorbell 3 to focus on specific zones and limit notification of events in such zones.
Control over Motion Detection
For instance, doorbell 3 provides motion detection in areas only 5’-15’ in front of your home thereby ignores irrelevant motion detection beyond a distance from your door.
Doorbell 3 has stronger screw strength and design so that you can install it firm and easy. Another point is that Video Doorbell 3 is compatible with Video Doorbell 2’s charging cables. However, this is not the case with the mounting brackets and wedge/corner kits of the previous version.
User-Friendly Ring App
The video doorbell 3 has an easy setup. Simply insert the battery pack into your Video Doorbell 3, connect your doorbell to the Ring app, and follow the steps. Once finished, mount and secure your doorbell with screws and click the faceplate into place.
