Does Arlo Wide-Angle Video Doorbell have to be Wired? In which way the wired doorbell improves its performance?
Yes, Arlo wide-angle Video Doorbell requires existing wiring; a connection to a wired mechanical or digital chime with a voltage between 16V AC and 24V AC, and a 10VA transformer. This is necessary for continuous power, reduced latency, and to capture and transmit videos in real-time so you won’t miss a moment. Probably you will like how the doorbell is hardwired and that it doesn’t require batteries and thus eliminate the burden of recharging.
Arlo Video Doorbell comes with HD video quality, 2-way audio, package detection or motion detection and alerts, weather-resistant casing, built-in siren, and night vision.
One of its major attractions is the 180° diagonal viewing angle, with a 1:1 aspect ratio optimized for the front door. This allows you to see a person from head to toe or a package on the ground. This is a far cry from the usual 16:9 aspect ratio of most other brands that limit the viewing angle. And it justifies the claim that the Arlo video doorbell can capture the blind spots that other video doorbells miss.
The video is clear in high definition (HD) with High Dynamic Range (HDR) which adds up to the enhanced visual details even in low light or bright conditions.
When someone rings the doorbell it calls your phone even if it is locked, and you can talk to the visitor directly or you can shoot a pre-recorded quick reply message. The bottom line is you will always know when a package is at your door and secure it on time.
Always Know What is Happening Outside Your Front Door
So if you are expecting a guest or a delivery man, relax; you will get a notification when motion is detected for people, packages, vehicles, and animals. However, the downside often heard about the Arlo doorbell is the delay in starting a live stream.
Perhaps a poor WiFi signal or internet speed can be the real culprit behind this issue. The distance between WiFi devices can impact the WiFi signal. Here, the recommended distance of your WiFi router from the doorbell is between 2 and 90 meters. Another reason could be the physical obstructions between your router and your doorbell or too many devices using the network. So, better check that as well.
The stylishly built and aesthetically pleasing video doorbell has a built-in siren which
It is a great tool to turn away unwanted visitors or deter intruders.
Also, you can secure your videos directly to your Arlo base-station or Smarthub and view them anytime and anywhere.
However, the use of Arlo SmartHub or base station is optional as the Doorbell is designed as a standalone product.
Please note that most of these functionalities form part of a paid monthly plan that begins after a 3-months trial period.
